Skinkikofi Coffee Shop / Koffiewinkel
Skinkikofi Coffee Shop (Light Meals and Freshly Baked)
Skinkikofi Koffiewinkel (Ligte etes)
Albertinia can pride itself on a number of eating places where locals and travellers can relax with food of the highest quality.
One of these places is very aptly named Skinkikofi (an Afrikaans word meaning ‘pour the coffee’). This oasis is right there in the main street as you turn off the main road (N2) between Mossel Bay and Riversdale. We provide safe parking on the premises just of off the rather narrow street for your convenience.
The building is a romantic cottage probably dating from the early years of Albertinia placing it in the early 20th century. On the front of the house is a traditional stoep where all kinds of interesting things can be perused.
Lettie Pretorius
Lettie Pretorius, already a legend in Albertinia, will welcome you. Over the last 12 years she has left her mark. She has a friendly smile for locals and strangers alike and makes one feel instantly at home. This phenomenal, capable woman runs her business all on her own.
You enter into the living-room which acts as a shop as well as a dining-room. Home baked stuff and all kinds or bric-a-brac are displayed around for you to browse and buy. When weather permits you can enjoy your eats and drinks in the garden. Or you could sit inside at one of the tables and order from the menu. Don’t be surprised at the very reasonable prices – Albertinia is a small rural town after all!
Lettie’s food is delicious and delicately served, but she is especially known in town for the unbelievably delicious chocolate cake she bakes. Dare to eat one slice and you will want to take the rest of the cake home.
So, when you pass by Albertinia, do yourself a favour, take a few minutes, turn in for an unforgettable visit at Skinkikofi Coffee Shop.
